LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE

I believe that the greatest satisfaction that you can receive is when you help others who are less fortunate than yourself, through the grace of God and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that when you comfort and help others you are helping and comforting Him.

It is difficult sometimes to see the suffering that others are going through, especially when we have our own problems. But when we humble ourselves and put others first we will be great in the eyes of God and this is an important part of our Catholic vocation. God will never forget anything that we do to help others. When judgment day comes God will say to the righteous “I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.” (Matthew 25, 35-36). And God will reward them with eternal life.

Jesus wants us to show his love to others and when I say others I mean our brothers and sisters. Everyone has a soul and we are connected to God and to each other through our souls so we are all brothers and sisters and God is our father. Therefore we should help and love everyone. “Do for others just what you want them to do for you.” (Luke 6-31) We can do this by charitable acts that will help our brothers and sisters in need.

May the Holy Spirit dwell in us and inspire us to help others so that we bring joy to their lives through the love of God.

“In the same way your light must shine before people, so they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5-16
